- What does the acronym C.P.R. stand for?
- C - Cardio - The Heart
P - Pulmonary - The Lungs
R - Resuscitation - To Revive
- What is CPR?
- It is the artificial method of circulating blood and oxygen through a body and attempting to keep the brain alive. When the brain has been without oxygen for four to six minutes, brain damage/death begins.
- Why should I learn CPR?
- One in seven people will have the opportunity to use CPR in their lifetime. The majority of cardiac arrests occur when someone else is present. You could be the one to make the difference of a lifetime.
- Who should take a CPR class?
- Childcare providers, Foster parents and Nannies are required to have valid CPR and first aid cards. Medical and Dental professionals must have CPR training as well. Moms, Dads, Grandparents & babysitters would also benefit from CPR training. The most important person who should be trained is YOU!
- Does CPR always work?
- No. Unlike CPR on television, real world CPR has no guarantees that the victim will be around for the next episode. The good news... survival rates have steadily increased over the years.
- How long will the cards be valid?
- The CPR and first aid cards issued at the completion of a class are valid for two years from the issue date. The card issued in the Shaken Baby Syndrome/SIDS/early childhood program is valid for one year. Texas requires this course every year for persons caring for children less than 24 months of age.
- What if I forget something?
- It is unrealistic to expect textbook CPR in an emergency (Instructors who have never done CPR outside of the classroom unjustly expect this). You will forget things about your training, but do your best. In an emergency, doing nothing would be the worst thing you could do.
- Why do your classes take less time than others?
- Our instructors are fire/medical professionals with years of real world experience. We know what matters in a real emergency. We cut through all of the "fluff" that other programs have and get right to the solution. We show the student how to manage the emergency for the few minutes it takes for the responders to arrive.
- What type of training Mannequins do you use?
- We use the newest style hygienic mannequins on the market. They don't blow air back at you and each student has their own "face" to use in the class. No "swappin' spit" in our class. (What you do after class is your business.) The faces and mannequin parts are cleansed in a bleach solution before they are used again.
- Is there an age limit for participation?
- No. We recommend the parent be the judge as to a child's capability to understand the training. We have lots of babysitters in our classes.
- How do I pay for the training?
- No deposits are required. Payment is required at the time you arrive for the class. Personal checks with a valid ID are welcome. We also accept "In God we trust" US funds as well as money orders. In the future we will accept major credit cards. A number of companies have made prior arrangements to be billed for their employees after they have taken a class. Check with your employer to see if they are a client.
